House Calls

Caring for horses requires specialized training and an understanding of their biology and characteristics. Our team is highly experienced and trained to serve equine patients. We can travel to your home or farm to provide services when needed as well.

Emergency Service

When your horse suffers an accident or other emergency health situation, we know how frightening it can be. That's why we're here for you day and night. When you call for an emergency, we open our doors or come to your farm as soon as possible.

Dental

Contact us for all your equine dentistry needs. Your horse needs his teeth and jaw functioning properly to maintain overall well-being. That's why we take your horse's dental care seriously. When you look after your horse’s oral health, he can eat and drink properly without pain, discomfort, or other oral health issues.

Wellness Exams

Wellness examinations are particularly important for large animals, especially horses. This examination guarantees the soundness of your horse and alerts you to any potential health concerns. It’s important to keep your horse up to date on his vaccinations and health certifications.

Common vaccinations include:

  • Venezuelan equine encephalitis (VEE)

  • Western equine encephalitis (WEE)

  • West Nile virus

  • Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE)

  • Influenza

  • Strangles

  • Rhinopneumonitis type 4

  • Rabies

Along with performing an overall physical and dental exam, we also include the Coggins test to find any trace of EIAV, which may cause persistent infections in your horse.

Reproduction

Some of the reproduction services we provide include gestation checks, colt delivery, and fertility services such as artificial insemination. We also recommend breeding consultations to ensure your filly is ready for motherhood. Sheath cleaning is also available for stallions.

At Tahoma Veterinary Hospital, we provide the same great care for many large farm animals. Our equine veterinarian takes care of your horses at the clinic or at home on the farm in Spanaway. Contact us today to set up an appointment. Our number is (253) 847-3500.
